Precautions for the Design and Use of Ball Screw Assemblies
Prevent Backlash
Ball screw assemblies have high reverse efficiency. When the motor is powered off, the self-weight of the components can cause reverse transmission of the screw pair, especially in vertical applications. To prevent backlash, methods such as self-locking motors, worm gear mechanisms, and clutches can be used.
End-of-Travel Protection
Travel protection devices should be installed at both ends of the ball screw assembly to prevent damage or loss of precision and service life due to overtravel and impact.
Prevent Bending Deformation
Long and horizontally placed screws can deform due to their own weight, leading to cumulative pitch errors and uneven loading on the nut. When designing long screws, measures should be taken to prevent or reduce bending deformation caused by self-weight.
Protection and Sealing
Dust and impurities entering the raceway can hinder the smooth movement of the rolling elements and accelerate wear between the rolling elements and the raceway, leading to a loss of precision in the rolling screw pair.
